弦屋光溪の木版画

・すべて一人で制作する自画自刻自摺作品
・限定部数の明記方法は、部数を刻した印を捺印して印上に番
  号を墨書
・限定部数の部数のみ制作
  （手持用［A.P］、非売品［H.C］などは制作しない）
・限定部数を一度に摺り終える為、すべてが初版
  （注文のすべてに応じた第一期シリーズの9作品を除く）
・版木は直ちに廃版処理

　


　

 The Woodblock Prints of Tsuruya Kokei

All  works were drawn, carved, and printed single-handedly.
The total edition number was carved on a seal and printed onto each impression.
0n top of this the number of each impression within the edition was written in black ink.
The total edition number was never exceeded. (No artist's proofs (A.P.), or other impressions of any kind were produced.)
All the prints within the edition were printed during the same period and so all prints are "first editions". (The 9 designs of the first bust portrait series are exceptions as these were produced to order.)
The woodblocks were immediately destroyed after the edition was completed.

 The print descriptions are as follows:
[Number of the design]Title of design
1. Name of the series
2. Total number of impressions in the edition
3. Year and month of production
 　The month in which the entire edition was completed.
   (ln the case of designs 1-8, it refers to the month in which 
    the first 20 impressions or so were completed.)
4. Seal / seals used on each impression followed by the
    number of each seal.
    The number of the seal follows that given in the table of
    seal impressions.

5. Dimensions (height X width cms)
    The margin of error is within 5 mm, or within 3 cms for the
    largest
    works, (design numbers 19,164､165,180､190)
6. Paper
    The name used is that under which the paper was
    manufactured and sold.
7. Wood used for woodblocks
8. Full name of Kabuki play depicted, followed by the theater
    and date of performance.
9. Place and period of sale
    Refers to the first place and time of sale.

図版の掲載順は、ほぼ制作順
図版の色彩は、作品が薄い紙の為、撮影時の台紙の色に影響されて実際とは若干異なる

　



　

 The order in which the illustrations appear is, for the most part, the same order in which the prints were produced.
The color in the illustrations differs slightly from the original prints due to the thinness of the paper used and the color of the cardboard mat placed behind the prints when the  photographs were taken.
